The Ensemble is a space to connect, reflect and learn together in support of our mission to help create a world where women and girls are free to shape their own destiny. We recognise that people bring different experiences, perspectives and levels of power into the room, including the Foundation’s role as a funder.
Guided by the Foundation’s values to – act with humility, learn in collaboration, hold trust, nurture sustainable change and think holistically – the Foundation and all participants commit to working together to creating a respectful, inclusive and participatory environment.
WHEN THESE COMMITMENTS APPLY
These commitments apply throughout our time together, including during travel, in sessions, during meals, social activities and accommodation and in any event-related messages or social media.
HOW WE WILL PARTICIPATE
We ask everyone to help create a space where people can contribute in ways that work for them. This includes:
- Treating one another with dignity, curiosity and respect;
- Making room for different voices, experiences, languages and ways of participating;
- Using inclusive language, avoiding assumptions and challenging ideas constructively, rather than personally;
- Respecting personal boundaries, privacy and consent;
- Listening actively, sharing space and being mindful of power dynamics
- Respecting each person’s choice about whether, how and how much they share. No one should feel pressure to disclose personal experience or take part in an activity that does not feel right for them;
- Letting a member of the Foundation know if a practical adjustment, a pause or support would help you participate.
Harassment, discrimination, bullying, unwanted conduct or behaviour that undermines another person’s dignity are not acceptable. If someone tells us that our words or actions have caused discomfort or harm, we ask that we listen, reflect and make changes.
IF YOU HAVE A CONCERN
If something does not feel right, or if you experience or witness behaviour that concerns you, please speak with Nicci Morgan – the Foundation’s Safeguarding, Diversity & Inclusion Manager, who will be present throughout the gathering. You may also raise a concern with any member of the Foundation team, before during or after the event, either directly or throughout confidential email address: [email protected].
We take concerns seriously, listen without judgement and discuss appropriate next steps with you wherever possible. We will handle information sensitively and share it only where necessary to respond appropriately and help keep people safe.
STORYTELLING, IMAGERY AND CONSENT
The Foundation’s responsibility: We will seek informed consent before taking or using any photographs, video, audio or other event content, and explain how, where and why it may be used.
Participants’ responsibility: Please do not photograph, record, share or attribute another person’s words, image or story without their clear permission. This includes posting on social media. Information that may seem ordinary to one person, may affect another person’s privacy, safety or work.
Thank you for helping to make our Ensemble a thoughtful, welcoming and respectful space.
